Offscreen connector
What Offscreen does
Tell ChatGPT or Claude about your business. Offscreen designs your printed marketing, shows you a proof and a delivered price in the chat, then prints and ships it. Eleven product lines, from yard signs and truck magnets to postcards, labels and stickers, and window decals. Orders are printed and shipped; tracking appears in the chat when the order ships.
Offscreen is open to any business. Design, proofs and checkout work for all eleven products: yard signs, truck magnets, door hangers, flyers, business cards, QR review cards, vinyl banners, postcards, rack cards, labels and stickers, and window decals. Orders are printed and shipped; tracking appears in the chat when the order ships.

Where it works
The Offscreen connector is open in ChatGPT and Claude. It uses the same server, sign-in and eighteen tools in both assistants.
How sign-in works
- Offscreen uses OAuth 2.1 with PKCE.
- When you add the connector, the assistant sends you to an Offscreen page. You sign in there with a one-time code that Offscreen emails to you. Tester accounts use a password instead.
- The assistant never sees your password or your code. It receives only an access grant from Offscreen.
- You can remove the connection at any time from the assistant's settings.
- Offscreen can also end a connection.
The eighteen tools
There are eighteen tools. Eleven only read, and seven write. A first order needs three write calls: create_proof (which can carry the brand details), start_order (which prices and starts the order in one step) and approve_design. Earlier versions of the connector had twenty-one tools; eight of those names are gone, folded into two new tools and into existing ones, and a call to an old name answers with the name of the tool that replaced it for one release. Three tools were added after that, to browse design choices, list the business's own proofs and report a problem, and the optional fields that later features will need (size, turnaround, a delivery ZIP code, a mailing choice for postcards, a trade and locations on the brand) were added to existing tools at the same time, so the tool list does not have to change again for them. Every one of those fields is optional and ignored when absent.
Every tool needs a signed-in user. The class column uses three tool classes: Read (retrieves information and changes nothing), Write (creates, changes or deletes data), and Sensitive write (a consequential or hard to reverse action, approved on every use). A tool that both reads and writes is listed as a Write.
| Name | Title | Purpose | Reads or changes | Class |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| get_catalog | Get product catalog | Lists the eleven Offscreen product lines (yard signs, truck magnets, door hangers, flyers, business cards, QR review cards, vinyl banners, postcards, rack cards, labels and stickers, and window decals), each with its sizes, options and quantities. Every product is marked as accepting a custom design. | Reads only | Read |
| get_brand | Get brand details | Returns the saved brand details, or says none are saved. | Reads only | Read |
| lookup_business | Look up a business | Looks up one business so its details need not be typed, from a Google Maps link, place id or name and city (googleQuery), or from the business's own public website (websiteUrl). Returns suggested names, phone numbers, hours, a trade guess, colors, logo addresses and the Google review link, and ends with the create_proof or save_brand call to make. Each item needs your confirmation. Saves nothing. Limited to 10 website lookups per hour. | Reads only (it asks Google and fetches a public web page) | Read |
| get_design_guide | Get the design guide | For a customer who wants to direct the design (create_proof designs from the brand without it). Returns the questions to ask before designing a product (part brief), the design rules, SVG dialect and worked examples (part spec), or both (the default). Text only. | Reads only | Read |
| check_design | Check a design | Checks a custom design written as SVG and returns blocking print problems, design advice and a summary. Uses the saved brand details. Saves nothing. | Reads only | Read |
| get_quote | Get a price quote | Works out the delivered price for one or more proofs with quantities. The price is an estimate until checkout. Optional size, turnaround, delivery ZIP code and, for postcards, a mailing choice are checked and repeated back. Stores nothing, returns no quote id, and charges nothing. | Reads only | Read |
| get_order | Get orders | With an order id, returns that order's status, item states, a receipt line once the order is paid, tracking numbers once shipped, and links to its proofs. Without one, lists the business's orders with status and items, and a receipt line for each paid order. For a finished order it gives the lines to send to start_order to print it again. | Reads only | Read |
| get_landing_page | Get the QR code page | Returns the page that the QR code on the business's printed pieces opens, its blocks, whether it is published, and the permanent link and QR code image. | Reads only | Read |
| get_page_report | Get QR code scan counts | Returns how many times each printed piece's QR code was scanned, the page was visited, and its call, booking and review buttons and request form were used, in total and by day, for 1 to 90 days, with a one-sentence summary and the requests people sent. Scans are kept as an event with the visitor's city, device type and referring site, and a daily-changing code that cannot be traced to a person; no IP address, name or cookie is kept. | Reads only | Read |
| browse_designs | Browse designs | Lists the design families Offscreen can make for a product and trade, each with a name, a one line description, a preview picture drawn for a sample business, and the designId to pass to create_proof. The previews are samples, not the customer's proof. | Reads only | Read |
| get_designs | Get my proofs | Lists the business's proofs, newest first, each with its product and size, when it was made, a preview link, the proof page link and whether an order used it, so the customer can point at one and order it. | Reads only | Read |
| create_proof | Create a proof | Designs a proof for the business from its saved brand (logo, colors, slogan, services, scan code), or makes a named template or a custom design written as SVG, when asked: a preview image and a proof page showing the exact text that will print. A new customer can send the brand details with the same call, saved exactly as save_brand saves them. It can make one of the designs browse_designs lists (designId), and takes an optional size and turnaround (standard or rush) checked against the product. With variants it also makes up to three alternative layouts as proofs of their own. A custom design is checked first and refused with the reasons if anything blocks printing. A proof never changes after it is made. Charges nothing and orders nothing. | Changes saved data | Write |
| save_brand | Save brand details | Saves the business name, phone, main color and optional details (including the trade, one of six or other, and up to five locations), and replaces details saved before. Downloads and stores a logo from an https address if one is given. For editing a saved brand. | Changes saved data | Write |
| start_order | Start an order | Takes the items (product, options, quantity and proof) and the state the order ships to, works out the delivered price, starts a draft order and returns the price and the order together. It takes the same optional size, turnaround, delivery ZIP code and postcard mailing choice as get_quote, and keeps the ZIP code and the mailing choice with the order. To reorder, send the proofs of an earlier order. Charges nothing. Nothing goes into production. | Changes saved data | Write |
| approve_design | Approve the design | Records your approval of the design on a draft order and returns the checkout link. Charges nothing. | Changes saved data | Sensitive write (every use approved) |
| cancel_order | Cancel an order | Cancels an order. Before payment it voids the approval and checkout link. After payment and before the order goes into production it cancels and refunds in full. Cannot be undone. | Changes the order and can refund | Sensitive write (every use approved) |
| save_landing_page | Save the QR code page | Saves the page that the QR code on the business's printed pieces opens, and replaces the page saved before. The page is built from up to five blocks: a headline, a call button, a booking button, a Google review button, a request form that emails the business, opening hours, and a map link. The page is visible to people who scan the code only while published is true. With retired true and confirm true it retires the page instead: the link then shows only your business name and a notice that the page has been retired, scans are still counted, and saving the page again brings it back. | Changes saved data and can publish or retire the page | Sensitive write (every use approved) |
| report_problem | Report a problem | Reports a problem with an order or the service: a kind (damaged, wrong, late, quality or other), a message, an order id when there is one, and an optional contact email (the account email by default). Stores a support ticket, emails the Offscreen team, and returns a ticket id. Support replies by email within one business day. It does not cancel, refund or change an order. | Changes saved data (a support ticket) | Write |

How an order works
- Offscreen lists the catalog: all eleven products, with their sizes, options and quantities.
- You give your business name, phone number and main color, or ask Offscreen to suggest them from your website. You confirm each detail. Offscreen saves them.
- Offscreen makes a proof, shown in the chat with a link to a proof page that shows the exact text that will print.
- Offscreen can work out the delivered price for the proof and quantity at any time without changing anything. It is an estimate.
- Offscreen starts a draft order for the proof and quantity, and the estimated price comes back with the order. Nothing is charged and nothing goes into production.
- You approve the design in the chat. Approval in the chat charges nothing. Changing the design afterwards voids the approval.
- Offscreen gives you a link to a checkout page at getoffscreen.com. You pay there, through Stripe. The tools never charge.
- The checkout page shows the exact total, with shipping and sales tax, before any charge.
- Orders are printed and shipped; tracking appears in the chat when the order ships.
Cancellation. Cancel free before you pay. After you pay, cancel from the chat for a full refund until the order goes into production. After that it cannot be cancelled.
Receipt. Once an order is paid, the receipt line appears in the results of get_order, with the amount paid and the address of the order's done page.
Data
What Offscreen stores
- Business details you save: name, phone, tagline, website, license number and colors.
- Your logo, if you provide one.
- Proofs and print files.
- The delivery address you type on the checkout page.
- Order and payment records.
- The email address you sign in with.
What Offscreen never sees
- Card numbers. Payment is handled by Stripe on the checkout page.
- The chat itself. Offscreen receives only the inputs that the assistant sends to each tool.
No tool takes a street address, card data, a sign-in code or a password. Pricing and ordering take the delivery state and, optionally, the delivery ZIP code, so the delivered price is right.

For developers
- Offscreen is a remote MCP server that uses streamable HTTP.
- The production address is https://getoffscreen.com/mcp. Directory approval is pending.
- Clients register dynamically, or present a client metadata document.
- OAuth 2.1 is required, with PKCE using S256.
- Each tool declares its title and annotations (read only, destructive and open world hints).
- Tool results are plain text with structured data. Some results carry an in-chat proof view where the host supports it.
